How to Load Frameworks into TrackAble
Loading an assessment framework into TrackAble requires care and accuracy. Errors during upload can cause significant data issues that are difficult to fix after the framework is live.
Accessing the Import Feature
- Go to the Admin area
- Click Import Assessment Framework
- Click More Detail to view full instructions from the knowledge base
Why Accuracy Matters
Uploading a framework incorrectly can cause serious problems:
- Pupils become difficult to baseline
- Progress tracking breaks down
- Reports fail to generate correctly
- Corrections cannot be made by simply reloading the file
Once a framework is uploaded with errors, you must delete it, correct the spreadsheet, and reload it entirely.
Matching Rules: Spelling and Spacing
TrackAble matches data exactly, which means:
- Spelling errors create duplicate entries (e.g., "Engish" vs. "English" = 2 subjects)
- Capitalization differences create duplicate entries (e.g., "English" vs. "english" = 2 subjects)
- Extra spacing creates duplicate entries (e.g., "Level 1" vs. "Level 1" = 2 levels)
Before You Upload: Data Cleanup
To prevent errors:
- Highlight the entire spreadsheet
- Run a custom data sort by framework, subject, and level to spot inconsistencies
- Perform a full spell check
- Review for capitalization consistency across all entries
- Check spacing in text fields (no extra spaces)
- Save the corrected file
Uploading and Allocating the Framework
Once your file is verified and cleaned:
- Click Import Assessment Framework
- Choose your file
- Click Import
- The framework is added to your available frameworks
To allocate the framework to classes:
- Go to Admin > Lists > Classes
- Click to edit the specific class
- Allocate the framework
- Save
After Upload: Verification
Immediately after uploading:
- Open the framework to review it
- Check for duplicate levels or subjects
- Check for spelling or spacing errors
If you find issues and the framework is brand new (no pupil data yet):
- Delete the framework
- Correct the spreadsheet
- Upload the corrected version
This is much easier than trying to fix errors later when data is attached to the framework.
