How do I Baseline my pupils?
You can either baseline a student from within each subject by clicking the edit button on the level that you want to baseline the pupil.
A box will then populate and you have to press the button.
Or by clicking on the View Baseline Tab at the top of SOLAR.
It would be helpful to download a copy of the statements into Excel if you are using the above method so you can read the statements for each subject while you baseline.
When you baseline a pupil SOLAR marks every statement in the level complete as at 30th August, the start of the academic year on SOLAR. Click edit in the level that level so that SOLAR knows from where to calculate any progress.
All the levels below the baseline will now be hidden and you can view them if you want to by clicking the view previous levels button and hiding them again.
***IMPORTANT*** Pupils should never have assessment data in levels below the baseline as a baseline is their starting point. If there is assessment data SOLAR will not allow you to baseline until you have cleared this using 'Clear Level' on all levels below the baseline.
The complete levels button marks all the statements in a level completed as at a selected date and includes these as progress for the term that the date falls into.
You do NOT need to mark the levels below the baseline as completed. You should not use the complete levels button and mark levels as completed to set your baseline.
***Please note*** The View Baselines page will only display subjects that are allocated to the class.
